Educational Material Series #4: Virtual Production Course Overview – Course Materials & Resources

Overview of Available Course Material and Resources for the Virtual Production Studio Network Course

Welcome to the fourth article in our web series on the Virtual Production Studio Network (VPSN) course! In this article, we will provide a comprehensive overview of the available course material and resources. These materials are designed to support educators and students in understanding and integrating virtual production into their curriculum, whether to a minor degree or as a major investment in facilities and equipment.

Practical Application and Integration

The VPSN course material and resources are designed for beginners engaging with virtual production, yet they come with some prerequisites to ensure students are adequately prepared. According to Section 1.1 of the Course Overview document, the team of students put together should have a basic understanding of film production, Unreal Engine, and virtual lighting. Collaborative skills and creativity are also essential. The course is structured to accommodate students who want to adopt various roles within a production team, including directors, visual artists, and production managers. This foundational knowledge is crucial for effectively engaging with the course material and maximizing the learning experience.

Customization

While the course material primarily reflects the approach at Breda University of Applied Science, it is designed to be customizable to fit different educational settings. Section 1.2 of the Course Overview document outlines several situational factors that educators should consider before adopting the course into their program. These factors include e.g. class size, course level, meeting frequency, and delivery method. We encourage educators to read the Course Overview document thoroughly and reflect on these factors to tailor the course material to their specific needs or simply just for inspiration
