The VPSN project is a collaboration between five higher educational organizations developing talents within the film and animation industry. We are funded and supported by the European Commission through the ERASMUS+ program.
Why Virtual Production and Education?
The current media landscape is undergoing a significant shift, where digital processes and technologies are breaking down distance and physical barriers that previously limited cooperation possibilities. Virtual Production, an innovative technology that brings filmmaking into the digital space, allows us to create ultra-realistic digital backdrops and assemble scenes from various parts. This not only makes film, game, and art creation more affordable but also enables collaboration across great distances.
We understand the increasing demand for VP in the industry, with specialist positions becoming more common. To truly embrace the digital transformation and ensure the readiness and capability of the European creative higher education sector, we aim to provide a thorough understanding of the potential capacity of VP systems. By collaborating with various fields, we identify valuable inputs and perspectives on using Virtual Production Studios (VPS) across multiple industries.
Through our project, we are committed to improving the competencies of educators and developing forward-looking centers of education. We create field-specialized learning guides to engage with this new technology, enhancing the abilities of educators to craft specialized courses and materials aligned with their educational goals and structures. By doing so, we inform and empower a future generation of creatives, fostering a solid foundation of understanding and connectivity to pursue the perfect shot.
Our frameworks enable diverse types of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to engage and potentially innovate in the field of VP during its early stages of growth and development. As companies and studios increasingly hire remote talents, reducing in-house training due to factors such as the impact of Covid-19, the need for training with emerging technologies at HEIs becomes even more crucial. We aim to bridge this gap by equipping educators with access to VP studios and raising awareness of its capabilities.

The Animation Workshop / VIA University College
Ranked fourth among international animation schools with a formal degree by Animation Career Review in 2023 we strive to excel in specialized animation education. With 120 faculty and 600 yearly students, we aim to foster cultural development and understanding through the animation industry, nationally and internationally.

Hosting 7,600 students and 700 employees from 60+ countries, we offer education in various domains like Games & Media, Hotels, Logistics, and Tourism. With a focus on practical research, we collaborate with partners for R&D projects, policy advice, and knowledge dissemination. International business and cooperation are emphasized, aiming to contribute to creative industries and digital sectors.
